Exercise and getting fit: can’t you or won’t you?!
People come up with loads of excuses to explain why they don’t work out and shed those extra pounds. Say goodbye to all those lame excuses and start working out, right now!
“I don’t have the time”, “I don’t have the will, patience or self discipline”, “I can’t get motivated ”, “I don’t know where to start”. Excuse nº 1: “I don’t have time”
Answer: Nowadays, gyms have opening and closing schedules that allow you to go thre at any time. 45 to 60 minutes a day are enough. You can divide that through periods of 10 minutes throughout the day. Take a long walk to work, at lunch time and at the end of the day. Do the rest of the work out at home if you must: use the stairs instead of the elevator, do some abdominals and play more with the kids!
Excuse nº2: “I don’t know where to start”
Answer: The gym is always a great place to start. You can find there specialized monitors who can help you chose the best programs for your age, weight and health condition. You can also determine a specific activity for each day like a walk or a bike ride. Get a work out partner: you’ll feel more motivated and have more fun.
Excuse nº3: “I can’t see any results”
Answer: exercise will make you feel and keep young. It releases endorphins which are natural substances that influence good humour and happiness, it also helps preventing sleeping disturbances, helps getting a firmer body and burns excess fat. Physical exercise isn’t something you should to just to have short-term results. Medium and long term results are the most important. It can prevent the appearance of many diseases like diabetes, osteoporosis and cancer. People with a tendency to get depressed should also work out!
Excuse nº4 “I’m not disciplined”
Answer: if you really didn’t have discipline or will, you wouldn’t be able to do lots of other things. You just need to work out a simple plan that is compatible with your life and schedules. The idea is to have fun and to improve yourself without establishing unrealistic goals.
Excuse nº5: “I get bored”
Answer: Do an effort in changing. Maybe you’re just bored with routine. Try to learn about 2 or 3 different exercises a month. Establish reasonable goals and face them as a challenge and not as an old habit. Maybe you’re not a person that likes all exercises, you just have to find the one that interests you the most!
Excuse nº6: “I don’t like my body”
Answer: don’t compare yourself to others. People are different and each have their interest and aptitude. Trying to get top model legs in 30 days is really not realistic. Don’t think of sport as a way to change your body into and idea, but into a healthier and more beautiful organism.
