Fish prevents kidney cancer
The consumption of fat fish is related to having lower chances of having kidney cancer. This was discovered by an investigation conducted by the Karolinska Institute (Sweden). The study focused on women of ages between 40 and 76 years old who ate fish twice or more a week. They showed to have a 44% decreased risk of developing kidney cancer.
Hazelnuts, the heart friendly nut!
Besides being great for the nervous system because of their rich content in magnesium and vitamins B and E, hazelnuts are also good for your heart.
A scientific study has shown that consuming 10 hazelnuts (about 40 grams) a day makes the arteries more flexible and elastic. Also, people who have included hazels in a fat diet have shown lower levels of cholesterol when comparing to people with a non fat diet and without hazels. Curious!
Finally, the study compared the fats and cholesterol levels between two groups of people on the same diet: one with hazelnuts and the other with olive oil. Both ingredients reduced fat acids retention but beside that, hazelnuts increased the arteries flexibility!

Northwick Hospital in great Britain has conducted a study that proves smoked ham (rich in iron) helps preventing osteoporosis, specially for women entering menopause who are more exposed to this disease. This is very important: iron is a mineral which can really reduce the incidence of this disease in older women.
Attention chocolate lovers!
Scientists have concluded that a few pieces of chocolate are the necessary to reduce the chances of a heart attack for some individuals in 50%. This happens because cocoa beans have a biochemical effect similar to the aspirin (decreases the tendency for platelets to accumulate in narrow blood veins blocking them). They suggest the ingestion of two tablespoons of dark chocolate daily to reduce the blood pressure and improve the blood stream
